In Turkey, media is being suppressed as protests continue following the arrest of Istanbul's mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu. Eight journalists arrested for covering banned gatherings were released, but two remain detained. The EU and Reporters Without Borders have condemned the arrests and called for the release of the remaining journalists. A BBC correspondent was also expelled. Protests, sparked by Imamoglu's arrest on corruption charges, have spread, including student demonstrations. Authorities have arrested over 1,400 protesters and banned gatherings in major cities. President Erdogan has vowed not to yield to the protests. Emmanuel Macron has also denounced the situation in Turkey.
